do not abide by the deadline, your mobile connection may get deactivated until
you re-verify it using your Aadhaar. The complete process is free of cost and
users do not have to pay any charges for it. Follow the steps given below on how to link Aadhar with a mobile number.

Why is it mandatory to re-verify mobile numbers with
Aadhaar?
The Central Government has made it compulsory to re-verify
all mobile numbers using the Aadhaar card of every user. This decision is taken
after an order was passed by the Supreme Court to verify all mobile phones with
Aadhaar. As per the data provided by the Telephone Regulatory Authority of India
(TRAI), there were 1178.2 million wireless subscribers as of 31st
October 2017. However, the number of active wireless subscribers stood at
1,025.79 million.
The number of mobile connections seems to be very high when
compared with the population of India and keeping the fact in mind that not all
people residing in India have a mobile connection. There is a high probability
that a huge chunk of these active mobile subscribers has been registered
through fake identity proofs. As per media reports, NIA also shared credible information
that these fake numbers are being used for inciting violence and propagating
terrorism in the country. Paying heed to these reports, the Supreme Court made
it mandatory to re-verify all mobile numbers with Aadhaar.
